IMVU.com

WARNING:  Adult language here… Mostly because I’m one pissed Pogo.

So a couple of friends of mine where telling me about this cool 3D chat with avatars.  So basically Yahoo IM with 3D graphics.
ok.. could be interesting.. so the PogoWolf heads on over to the site, creates an account.. and a section says:  Hey! invite your friends!

Now, knowing that I have the Gmail of my friends, I thought I would look though the list and see who else is on.  You know a NORMAL
practice of showing all the Email addresses and then asking who you want to invite.

what am I greeted with?   a Javascript error, and then notifications that EVERYONE in my Gmail list was sent a bloody Email
asking them to join the site.

WTF?!

You DO NOT use my personal information for your SPAM tactics.   So now I’m writing hundreds of ‘I’m Sorry for the SPAM’ Emails
to all my lists and friends.

so here the thing.. ANYONE that asks you to use IMVU tell them to go to hell.
if you are already ON IMVU.  Write a nasty Email to the devs and tell them to go bugger a sheep for a while.

Tell them you’ve tossed off in the mayo they used to make there sandwiches.. and BY GOD remove yourself from
that web site until someone gets their hand out of their asses (as in the Donkey) and learns how to program for the Internet.

MiniGod Speakers..

Filed under: Cool at the time — Tags: , — pogowolf @ 9:36 pm

MiniGod Speakers

Somewhere, on a hidden island where stereos are worshipped, the natives are dancing a fiery, ritualistic dance to the MiniGod.

Okay, that’s not really happening, but it certainly looks like it should be. I mean, look at this MiniGod thing! It looks like it should be a prop at a high-tech luau. Its style is reminiscent of the Jetsons (especially with the ring around its neck) mixed with that CG movie Robots. That is, if Robots had been a darker, scarier movie. (Actually, it could be if you stopped and thought about it. I mean, it was a world inhabited by robots, for crying out loud. What happened to the humans?)

Believe it or not, these MiniGod Speakers require only a 9 volt battery for operation, then hook up with a computer or stereo system. You can also hook up to an iPod, and then you’ll have yourself a little amplification.

These MiniGod speakers are about 15 inches tall, and are actually available in a few different models and color combinations.

If you want them, you had better come and get them, because they are only available for a limited time. You should be able to find them with a quick search on eBay, for a going rate of about $120.

The KissPhone?!

Kissphone

As soon as I saw freelance inventor George Koussouros’ newest invention, the KissPhone, I had the exact same reaction you had: “Eeuwwww”.

Okay, I wasn’t able to spell that interjection well, but I believe that if you were creeped out by the KissPhone, then you’re probably pretty normal.

The purpose of the KissPhone is, you guessed it, a way to transmit a kiss from one person to the other. All you need to do is press your lips against the Mick Jagger souvenir there, and the artificial mouth somehow detects percussion speed, pressure, temperature, and sucking force of the lips. Then send it over the wireless network for another person’s pleasure.

In other words, you now have a legitimate reason to make out with your cellular phone. Yeah, you might not want to do that in public. What would you call that, a WPDA? (Wireless Public Display of Affection, gross!)

Oh, I haven’t told you the best part. If you want a kiss from Madonna or your favorite “imaginary Hero”, you can get it from the “kiss bank”. I have no idea how they got a “kiss recording” from the Material Girl, but you shouldn’t waste your life trying to figure out if the KissPhone did a legitimate job.

This is one of those products where I could really go on about how unnatural this is, and how we’re getting too infatuated with our technology, but I think this picture says ten thousand words.

Spongebob Squarepants rectal thermometer

spongebobrectal.jpg

Mention rectal thermometer and you can see a lump forming in my throat. I just hate any sort of probes going up where the sun don’t shine, but if I were a kid and I see Spongebob Squarepants smiling widely like that, chances are the pain would automatically lessen (or even disappear) when he gets down to business. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t be smiling like Spongebob if I knew just which orifice I was created to be stuck into. The Spongebob Squarepants rectal thermometer retails for $16.95 from Amazon.

Electronic pen first to upload handwriting from plain paper

Filed under: Cool at the time — Tags: , — pogowolf @ 10:48 pm

by Lisa Zyga

Mobile Digital Scribe

The Mobile Digital Scribe by IOGEAR is the first electronic pen that can capture handwriting and drawings from any surface, which can later be uploaded to a computer as text and JPEG files. Unlike other electronic pen-to-PC systems, the Mobile Digital Scribe doesn´t require a special digital notepad, but any size paper up to letter size will work.

The system has two components: a pen and a receiver. The pen uses ordinary ink, and its regular size and weight makes writing feel natural. But the pen also contains an infrared sensor, which captures hand movements while writing. The receiver is clipped to the notepad or paper, and receives data from the pen through the pen´s ultrasonic transmitter. The receiver can store up to 50 pages of writing and pictures.

The Mobile Digital Scribe comes with a USB cable which is used to connect the receiver to a PC. IOGEAR´s handwriting recognition software translates notes into text and sketches into JPEGs, which can be saved and edited. Text can be shared via JPEG format through e-mail or instant messaging.

The Mobile Digital Scribe can also be connected to a PC while the user is writing, and handwritten text and drawings will be displayed automatically on the computer screen.

The technology can identify 12 languages, including Italian, Swedish, Chinese, and Russian. IOGEAR plans to target the system at students as well as legal and medical professionals. Instead of carrying laptops to class and meetings, individuals can use regular paper with the electronic pen and receiver, and upload their notes at home.

The Mobile Digital Scribe is available for $130, and comes with IOGEAR´s limited one-year warranty.
